FIREHOUSE ROAD
Chris Ramirez is a Director DP with 34 years of professional photography experience, including 15 years for
The New York Times, where he completed over 2,000 assignments. During his 20-year career as a photojournalist, Chris refined his storytelling skills and now relies on his extensive experience to produce short-form documentary projects.
Chris, the owner and operator of Firehouse Road, LLC, is known for creating films that authentically capture subjects he cares about. Currently, he is producing a documentary short about firefighters called "Sullivan Fire." The film will provide insight into the brave decisions made by volunteer firefighters in a rural county just north of New York City. Chris, a 13-year firefighter himself, will introduce audiences to the mostly unseen and not easily understood lifestyle of the volunteer firefighter. The job is demanding and uncomfortable, but those who undergo training will say they love it more than any other job they have done.
Chris has 11 years of experience as a drone pilot and aerial director. He was an early adopter of using digital cameras in drone cinematography. Chris has flown and shot for clients including Mercedes-Benz, AMG Driving Academy, Discovery Channel, and Walden, an Ewers Brothers and Ken Burns film.
From 2018 to 2020, he served as a UAS (drone) Instructor for the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services at the NYS Preparedness Training Center in Oriskany, NY. During this time, Chris trained the FBI, FDNY, NYPD, and other agencies on using drones in public safety response.
